Spring 2011 |
Abundant Life Ministries continues to make great strides. In an effort to raise money for the boys summer activities, we planned to have a yard sale fund raiser event. On April 15 and 16, we did just that. The announcement was placed in the local newspaper and spread by word of mouth that the yard sale was on. Items from baby clothing, toys, appliances, tv, men and women clothing, games, electronics, etc. were generously donated by many of our friends in the community. I want to especially thank one of our volunteers Tyrone Willams, for hosting the yard sale event at his home. We could not have done this without you. Also, many thanks to our Executive Director Sandra Stubbs, Vice Mayor of Bunnell Jenny Brady, board member Yvonne Stubbs and volunteer Candi March who were also present to lend a helping hand. Also, board member Jim Griffin arrived at the scene right on time to provide a wonderful lunch. It was a great event and many of the items were sold. At the end of the day, we profitted over $1800 in sales. Not bad for two days of work. In May, we held a garage sale in which we profitted over $200 in sales. Looks like we may need to incorporate more of these fund raisers in the future. The boys will soon be out of school for summer vacation. Some plans for them include employment, attending camp, and other fun filled activities to keep them positively engaged and productive. We continue to have our sight on the "Village of Hope" project, which will focus on Family Preservation, Foster Care and Transitional Housing. Also, services provided will include but are not limited to Family Case Management, Individual and Family Counseling, Support Groups, Life Skills Education, and Parenting Education, Respite Care, Peer Mentoring, Community Services Awareness and Integrated Support Systems, a.k.a. "Hope Network." Stay tuned more information to come.... We need your help and support! Please contact Cyril at 386-931-1459 or Sandra at 386-931-1420 for more information. May God continue to bless you, smile upon you, and give you peace..
